Even with careful craftsmanship, occasional adjustments may be needed. This section provides quick solutions to common issues with our furniture, including the tilt mechanism found on several lectern models. Follow these simple steps to restore smooth operation and keep your equipment performing its best.
Tilt knob no longer turns, or spins without engaging the tilt mechanism.
Cause:
The issue may involve the shaft collar inside the adjuster block. It can become wedged against the screws that secure the nut in place—often from turning the knob past its stop to achieve a deeper tilt angle.
Fix
`1. Remove the tilting table from the lectern and flip it over to access the underside..
`2. Locate the bore on the turning knob and detach it using a 3/32" set screw wrench.
`3. Detach the small half‑moon fasteners at the bottom of the tilt adjuster (save the pin).
`4. Remove the adjuster arm and check for a lock collar near the top of the screw.
`5. Reinsert the adjuster arm and reattach the knob — it should now turn freely.
Cause:
The problem may be that the screw holding the knob onto the bolt has stripped.
Fix
`1. Using a 3/32" set screw wrench, see if you can tighten the knob back onto the bolt. If not, then you'll need a new turning knob
Avoid forcing the tilt knob beyond its natural stop point. A gentle adjustment ensures smooth operation and prevents collar misalignment.
Cause:
The raising mechanism consists of two pulleys attached with a belt. More than likely the belt has broken, or has slipped of the sheaves.
Fix
`1. Remove bottom plate from lectern. Once that is removed you can see if the belt needs replacing or if it has slipped off the pulley.
Cause:
There may be an obstruction inside the adjuster block assembly. The outer adjuster block is lined with felt, and it that has become worn, it may be obstruction smooth operation.
Fix
`1. Remove tilting table assembly completely from lectern.
`2. Now you have access to inside of outer adjuster block. Look for felt that has become loose or any other obstruction.
